BIBLE DISTRIBUTION &
LITERACY
Our desire is to get God's Word into the hands and hearts of people. We often work in regions where very few or no Bibles can be found so we distribute them in the language of the people. Many resources are available from Kenya Bible Society and they have been a great resource providing Bibles to us in the languages of Pokot, Sabot, Samburu, Nandi, Masai and Swahili.
In many language groups God's Word has been translated but it is inaccessible due to extremely high illiteracy. For example, among the Pokot the literacy rate is just about 40%. We are partnering with Kenya Bible Society and the local Kenya government and Church leaders to begin an adult literacy program God willing in 2021. We also distribute Audio Bibles for those who cannot read.
ORPHANS
"Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this, to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." James 1:27
Susan was able to visit the Centre in 2018 and God has used that visit to help raise funds for the many needs of the children and when Jim and Susan return to Kenya to live (God willing in 2021) she will be able to help with some of their physical needs including medical needs. She will help other childrens' homes as opportunities arise.
Several years ago Jim met the family of "Mama Jane" Kagai. Mama Jane had started an orphan rescue center in the Soweto slum of Nairobi called Emmanuel New Hope Rescue Centre. It has grown from a few children to now over 50 children! Several members of her family help with the care of the children with very limited resources and God has provided for them in amazing ways!
